Obzidian "Obz/Obzi" Dalhar'Phlith -- Thol'Valdroth
Obzidian or "Obz/Obzi" is the first of my EverQuest characters. Back in June of 2000, my partner and his mother were trying to get me to play this game called EverQuest. They sat me down at the computer and told me to pick my character and a name. I read up on the class system and picked a dark elf or Teir'dal enchanter. Then, I had to pick a name. I was reading Laurell K Hamilton's Obsidian Butterflies at the time and thought "dark elf, dark stone . . Obsidian it is. . " only I couldn't pick Obsidian so the s became a z and Obzidian was born.
Character Background
Of the Dalhar'Phlith Sisters
These are six Teir'dal sisters and a single Teir'dal brother. The sisters are septuplets, something extremely unheard of for Teir'dal. The stories of their birth are hazy and unknown to all but the sisters themselves. Each of the girls has a name begining with "Obz" with the single, now deceased, boy being named Ozbidian. The Dalhar'Phlith sisters are quite old, having been around since the birth of the Child of Hate, Lanys T`Vyl. Each of the sisters is loyal to the Daughter of Hate (Goddess of Malice) first and to the Father, Innoruuk, second. The strength of the conviction each sister feels in her faith is different.
Obzidian's Story Now ( in The Age of Destiny)
Obzidian is a Teir'dal enchantress/coercer. She has dark indigo skin and black eyes. For Teir'dal, she is very short and petite. Despite her age (she is somewhere around a millenium old), Obzidian appears very youthful and energetic. She is lovely, graceful, and charming. It was Obzidian's marriage to Vathek Valdroth that brought the houses Thol'Valdroth and Dalhar'Phlith together. Obzidian became fast friends with Vathek's mother, Xalyssa Thol and the two meandered about Norrath working with a group of adventurers called the Dark Templars. Prior to the cataclysm, the two were involved in events which changed the world. It was these activities that forewarned them of the coming Cataclysm and helped them prepare for the changes that would fall upon Norrath.
Obzidian's loyalties lie first to
her family and friends, second to her deities, and third to her
people. She is not quick to friendship, but once given, she is
loyal
to a fault. Her enchanting skills in past ages were
legendary.
However, she sacrificed much of her skill to help her friends and
family withstand the cataclysm. Instead of rebuilding them, she
has
taken a backseat role and spends most of her time relaxing in
Gorowyn. When the rest of her family moved to
Neriak upon its reopening, Obzidian stayed in Freeport to monitor the
activites of the Thexians and Lucan D'Lere. She is a spy.
She is considered the "elder" sister and family matriarch, and often
takes care of the other Dalhar'Phlith sisters, who call her Obzi.
